1.   Basic Requirements
Those non-Chinese who are healthy and interested in Chinese folk culture, have High School Graduate Certificate and pass the HSK Test, and are willing to abide by Chinese Government Laws and the University's regulations can apply for undergraduate studies in Jiangnan University.

2.  Tuition Standard
(1) Chinese Government Scholarship students are free of charge.

(2) The tuition for self-supporting students is ¥14,800~16,400/school year.

Note: the tuition must be paid fully during registration at the beginning of each semester.

3. The Way and Procedures of Application

(1) The Way of Application

A. Chinese Government Scholarship students

Make an application to the concerned departments of their governments, and upon filling out the application form, they may express their wish to study at JNU in the column of “preferred institution”. The China Scholarship Council (CSC) will forward the application materials to JNU. Once accepted, the applicant is entitled to Chinese Government Scholarship.

B. Self-supporting students

Can apply directly to School of International Education Office in Jiangnan University.

(2) Application Materials

A. Fill out the “Application Form for Foreigners Wishing to Study in Jiangnan University”.

B. Photo-copy of Highest Academic Certificate and School Record

C. Photo-copy of “Physical Examination Record for Foreigner” (valid for 6 months, the original copy must be kept for registration, if not qualified cannot enter the school)

Note: Concerned Application Forms: Applicants for Chinese Government Scholarship may ask for the Application Forms from the concerned departments of their governments. Self-supporting applicants may download directly from the homepage of School of International Education website, or ask for the Application Forms from School of International Education.

(3) Deadline of Application: June 30 every year

(4) Admission and Visa

Applicants who have been admitted to JNU will receive before July 31 “Notice for Admission” and JW201 or JW202 Form with which they can apply for their visas to Chinese Embassy or Consulate.

(5) Commencment of teaching

The first Monday of September

(6) Registration

Upon registration, students are required to present their passports, Notice of Admission, JW201 or JW202 Form, Physical Checkup Record for Foreigners (valid for 6 months), 8 photos (2 inches, front view, half length, hatless). In addition to these, self-funding students are also required to pay their tuition, registration and accommodation fees. If student exceeds registration time limit over 2 weeks without any reason, the entrance qualification will be cancelled.

(7) Students Reception

Our School will welcome new students at Shanghai Pudong International Airport 2 days ahead of the commencement of each semester. Students should inform us of flight No. and arrival time so that we could arrange a pick-up properly. Students who will come at other time, if needing to be met, please contact us in advance and inform the arriving time at Shanghai Pudong International Airport or Wuxi Railway Station. We could arrange a pick-up, but there is a separate fee for this service.

4. Scholarships

Jiangnan University provides many kinds of scholarships, such as Taihu Scholarship, President Scholarship. Distinguished students can apply to School of International Education for scholarships, and the highest scholarship is up to ￥12, 000.

5. Facilities and Fees

(1) Accommodation fee

Jiangnan University provides international students with International Students' Apartment Building with public kitchen, self-service laundry, entertaining room. The standards of room rent are as follows:

A. Chinese Government Scholarship students are free of charge.

B. Self-supporting students

Single Room (with toilet, air-conditioner, water-heater, TV, telephone, Internet): ¥ 25/day

Note: Accommodation feet can be paid fully at the beginning of each semester or monthly.

(2) Food Fee

The feeding cost for each student dining at the dining hall on campus is about ¥15-20/day.

(3) Medical Fee

International students who fall ill or become sick during their study period can see the doctor at the University's Medical Center. The university will pay the medical fee of Chinese Government Scholarship students according to relevant rules. Self-supporting students should foot their medical bills by themselves.

(4) Insurance

"Comprehensive Insurance Plan for Foreigners Studying in China" is required to taken, and the insurance premium is ¥600/student per year.

(5) Other

Within 1 week after new students arrival, the staff will guide the students to become acquainted with the university and the city, and they will also assist with other relevant matters such as dealing with the residence permit, opening a bank account, medical insurance etc.
